ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nonoy Tan started taking underwater photographs in 2001 using film-based cameras.  Since then, he has been awarded by various international organizations in Switzerland, United States, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Turkey, Philippines and the United Kingdom. He is also involved in the training of professional dive guides for underwater photographers. 

His images have been widely published and exhibited by institutions such as the Royal Photographic Society (UK) and the Smithsonian Institution Museum of Natural History (US). He is currently the Philippine correspondent for X-ray magazine (Global Edition). 

When not underwater, he works as a microfinance professional in Asia and Africa. He is presently based in Ethiopia. His other interests include Philippine ethnography, specializing in the study of ethnic weaponry. He is currently writing a book on the ancient Philippine practice of head hunting and human sacrifice.
