ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nonoy Tan started taking underwater photographs in 2001 using film-based cameras.  Since then, his images have received recognition  from international organizations in Switzerland, United States, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. He is also involved in the training of professional dive guides that provide services for underwater photographers. 

His underwater photographs have been widely published and exhibited by institutions such as the Royal Photographic Society (UK) and the Smithsonian Institution Museum of Natural History (US). He is currently the Philippine correspondent for X-ray magazine (Global Edition). 

When not underwater, he works as a microfinance specialist in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana, Tanzania, Pakistan, India and the Philippines. Also, he studies and documents the various types of ethnographic weaponry of the Philippines.  Currently, he is writing about weapons from the Northern Luzon Cordillera peoples which will be published in the future.
